ESEA prepared arboricultural impact assessments for subdivision proposals on Windsor Road at Norwest, in the Balmoral Road Release Area, alongside a Small Area Biodiversity Development Assessment Report (BDAR).

What did the assessments find?

The Small Area BDAR identified hollow-bearing stags and a large Forest Red Gum with multiple hollows. Trees like these carry both arboricultural value and habitat value, so the arborist report and the biodiversity assessment had to agree on how they were treated.

Why prepare them together?

An arboricultural impact assessment sets Tree Protection Zones and encroachment, while the biodiversity assessment records habitat features like hollows. Preparing both together means the subdivision layout is tested against one consistent set of tree and habitat data.

The tree protection standard behind these reports has been updated; see AS 4970:2025 and what it means for tree protection.
