Services on this project

For an industrial development at Smeaton Grange, ESEA’s controlled activity exemption advice in November 2024 secured departmental concurrence that a separate approval was not required for the works as designed. That outcome is specific to that site and design.

What is a controlled activity?

Works on or near waterfront land in NSW can be a controlled activity, which normally needs its own approval from the water agency. Some works qualify for an exemption, but whether they do depends on the site, the watercourse and the design.

What ESEA did

ESEA assessed the riparian land and the proposed works against the exemption criteria and prepared the advice that the department concurred with. See controlled activity approvals.

Riparian assessment also led to multiple corridors being declassified at Kemsley Park, Grose Vale.
